Editorial Policy

How we research equipment, write evidence-based guides and keep commercial relationships away from our recommendations.

Last updated October 8, 2026

What we publish

LiftEvidence publishes two kinds of content: equipment buying guides, which compare products on the same criteria, and Evidence & Training guides, which explain what research says about building muscle, getting stronger, cardio and nutrition — and what that means for your training and your equipment.

What we can and cannot verify

  • We have not physically tested the products we cover. We never write that we have, and we do not invent measurements, test results or first-hand experience.
  • Specifications come from manufacturers and retailer listings (mostly Amazon.com). When sources disagree, we use the more conservative figure and say so; when a figure is not reliably published, we mark it that way instead of guessing.
  • Owner feedback comes from recurring themes in verified customer reviews. It is reported as user experience, never as evidence or as our own testing, and recurring complaints count against a product.
  • Prices change constantly, so we do not print them; product pages show a price band and send you to the retailer for the current price.

How products are chosen and ranked

For each category we shortlist more candidates than we publish, discard listings with unclear variants, recurring failure reports or poor availability, and score the finalists on weighted criteria chosen for that type of equipment. Labels such as “Best Overall” are given only where a product clearly earns them. The full criteria and weights are on How we choose.

Scientific evidence

  • We prioritise position stands, national and international guidelines, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, then individual trials.
  • Every reference is checked against the original record (title, authors, journal and DOI) before publication. We do not cite papers we have not verified.
  • We cite claims that depend on research, explain uncertainty plainly and avoid turning single studies into rules.
  • Our guides are general information for healthy adults, not medical advice.

Independence and affiliate links

We choose the product first; the affiliate link comes second. LiftEvidence earns commissions from Amazon on qualifying purchases, but commission rates never affect which products we include, how we score them or how we rank them. We do not accept payment for placement. See the affiliate disclosure.

If the site shows display advertising in the future, ads will be clearly labelled “Advertisement”, kept away from navigation and product buttons, and will never be designed to look like our recommendations.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools to help research, organise and draft. Every published recommendation, specification and reference is checked against its source, and we do not publish content simply because it is cheap to produce.

Updates and corrections

Product data shows the date it was checked; guides show when they were last updated. If you find an error, email contact@liftevidence.com and we will correct it.
